Ontarioville Art & Music League

Ontarioville Art and Music League (OAML) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the fine arts in the surrounding communities.  Formed in 1985, as the Schaumburg Music Educators Association (SMEA), the group was renamed in 2005 as the Ontarioville Art & Music League (OAML) to honor the Ontarioville Historic District.  The organization has been fully operating since its inception.  The member volunteers aid each other by sharing the responsibilities of preparing students for programs, or finding art educators to teach area artists their skills.

Originally known as the Schaumburg Music Educators Association, the group expanded its focus after the founders purchased the adjacent historic farmhouse and added a local art gallery and lesson facility.  The lack of an official non-profit art and music organization in the Village of Hanover Park made it obvious that OAML would offer the community more opportunities for art and music events.  The group has doubled its membership since the addition of the interested artists in the area.

One of the highlights of OAML is its musical instrument and piano donation program.  A citizen can donate a piano, or other musical instrument, to OAML and our organization will seek out a needy family for the instrument for the purposes of learning to play it.  We take no money for this process, but send a thank you letter for tax purposes to the donor.  We have donated over forty pianos, and other instruments to needy area families.

This is an all-volunteer organization of members working together to present and educate local communities in the arts. Ontarioville Art and Music League is a fully registered not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation and it is also registered as a non-profit in the State of Illinois.
